The perfect tool for anyone who wants to engage in trickery, a disguise kit enables its owner to adopt a false identity.
A disguise kit includes cosmetics, hair dye, small props, and a few pieces of clothing.
Deception. In certain cases, a disguise can improve your ability to weave convincing lies.
Intimidation. The right disguise can make you look more fearsome, whether you want to scare someone away by posing as a plague victim or intimidate a gang of thugs by taking the appearance of a bully.
Performance. A cunning disguise can enhance an audience's enjoyment of a performance, provided the disguise is properly designed to evoke the desired reaction.
Persuasion. Folk tend to trust a person in uniform. If you disguise yourself as an authority figure, your efforts to persuade others are often more effective.
While you have a disguise kit equipped, you can take one of the following tasks.
You can take the Crafting activity for 10 minutes and spend 1 GP to cover any distinguising mark or injury you or a willing creature have, which lasts for 1 hour.
You can further the duration by 1 hour by succeeding on a DC 10 Intelligence (Disguise Kit) check. If you succeed by 5 or more, you can further increase the duration by 1 hour for each increment of 5 that you succeeded.
You can take the Crafting activity for 1 workday and spend 100 GP to create a disguise of a humanoid creature, provided you know enough of that creature (GM fiat). This disguise includes clothing, accessories, fake equipment, and other props to perfectly mimic the creature. You can take an action to don this disguise. A creature can make an Intelligence (Investigation) check against your Intelligence DC to spot the disguise, but they can't tell your normal appearance.
You can reduce the cost in half by succeeding on a DC 15 Dexterity (Disguise Kit) check. If you succeed by 10 or more, you can cut the cost by a third, instead.
When you see a humanoid creature, you can make a Wisdom (Disguise Kit) check against the creature's Intelligence DC. On a successful check, you know if the creature has a disguise donned or not.
