Description of the archaeology kit.
Components. Archaeology kits contain brushes, trowels, a small mesh screen, measuring tape, a hand shovel, and other equipment necessary for conducting an archaeological dig. All the tools are neatly packed into a small tin box with a handle on the lid for carrying.
History. Proficiency with the archaeology kit gives you additional information on Intelligence (History) checks regarding their past.
Investigation. Proficiency with the archaeology kit gives you additional information on Intelligence (Investigation) checks involving the discovery of ancient fossils and artifacts.
Perception. You can use the archaeology kit to appropriately deduce whether a 10-foot by 10-foot area could be a possible dig site.
Sleight of Hand. Proficiency with the archaeology kit allows you to make a Dexterity (Sleight of Hand) check to dig an artifact or fossil from the ground without damaging it. A failed check destroys the artifact or fossil. If the artifact or fossil is of a certain hardness, the archaeology kit is destroyed instead, requiring 25 gp and a short rest to repair it.
Dig. You can spend 1d8 hours to create a dig site in a 10-foot by 10-foot area that is 10 feet deep.
