This section covers the rules for creating your own character. Once completed, you can use your player-character ("PC") to play the game.
You determine your character's six attribute scores by rolling 4d6, dropping the lowest roll, and adding them together for each attribute.
The Attributes section has more details on how to determine your character's attribute scores and their capabilities.
You choose your character's race, which determines its general appearance and provides the character with traits that set each race apart from the others. You also choose your character's size, which is based on your race. Your creature type might also grant you additional traits.
The Races section has a list of available options.
You choose your character's background, which determines where the character came from before starting a campaign. A background provides proficiency in four skills, four talents, and items worth a total of 100 GP.
The Backgrounds section has a list of available options.
You determine your character's details, which includes a name and a physical description, such as age, sex, height, and weight, as well as the color of the hair, eyes, and skin. You can add an unusual or memorable physical characteristic, such as scar, a limp, or a tattoo.
Besides the physical and personality characteristics, your character also has an alignment, which broadly describes its moral and personal attitudes. Alignment is a combination of two factors: one identifies morality (good, evil, or neutral), and the other describes attitudes toward society and order (lawful, chaotic, or neutral). Thus, nine distinct alignments define the possible combinations.
