This section covers the rules for saves, including how to make them, their bonuses and penalties, and the special save called death save.
You make a save when you attempt to resist a feature by rolling a d20 and applying any bonuses and penalties, as explained below, and then compare the total to the difficulty class (or "DC"). If the total equals to or exceeds the DC, you made a successful save, resisting the feature. Otherwise, you made a failed save, and the effects described are applied to you.
A save can have one or more penalties.
When you make a save, you can add the appropriate attribute score modifier to save.
Certain conditions apply bonuses or penalties to a save.
Certain thresholds of cover grant a creature bonuses on saving throws.
A feature might grant you training with one or more saving throws. When you make a saving throw that you have training with, you add the relevant training bonus to the save.
While dying, you must make a save at the start of each of your turns by rolling a d20 against the DC of 10. On a critical successful save, you become stabilized.
